What Comes Next
Call (508) 216-8299 and tell us what the door is doing - won't open, won't close, makes a bang when it tries, opener runs but nothing moves. That tells us whether it's a spring, a cable, a track out of alignment, or the opener itself, and it tells us what to bring on the truck. We work out of 370 Main St, Worcester, MA 01608, and we run jobs through the Central Business District area and out into the surrounding neighborhoods - Piedmont, Main Middle, Indian Lake East, Grafton Hill, Webster Square, Burncoat, and the rest of the 55 named areas we cover.
We'll ask for the make of the opener if you have it, and roughly how old the door is. A lot of houses in this area went up between 1938 and 1993, with the bulk from the 1960s and 70s, so torsion spring sizing and track width vary more than people expect from one street to the next. Knowing the rough age of the house before we arrive means we're not guessing at the hardware on the truck.
If it's a safety issue - a door stuck halfway open, a spring that's let go - say so on the call. That changes the order we work the day in.
What We Do Not Take On
We don't do new construction openings or framing work - that's a carpenter and a general contractor's job, not ours. We don't sell or install doors as a sideline to selling you something else; if a repair is cheaper and will hold, we'll say that instead of pushing a replacement.
We also won't quote a repair sight unseen over the phone with a hard price. Springs, cables, and openers on houses from the 1960s and 70s era stock in this area come in enough different sizes and mounting styles that a real number needs someone looking at the actual hardware, not a guess based on the house's age alone. If you want a number before we come out, we can give you a range based on what you describe, not a fixed quote.
Lastly, we don't carry every opener part for every brand on the truck at all times. Older openers sometimes need a part ordered in, and we'll tell you up front if that's the case rather than have you wait at home for a fix that isn't happening that day.
The Work We Take On
Torsion and extension spring replacement, broken cables, bent track, off-track doors, worn rollers, opener repair and replacement, and panel damage from a backed-into door - that's the bulk of the calls. Winters here get genuinely cold, and a steel door that's been fine for years can crack a panel or seize a track once the cold sets into old hardware that hasn't been serviced. That's a big share of the calls we get through the colder months.
We work across the Worcester area out to about a 14-mile radius - from Shrewsbury and Auburn in close, out to Westborough, Marlborough, and North Brookfield on the far edge. Most of the work is residential, on houses built from 1938 through the early 1990s, which means we see a wide mix of door widths, spring systems, and opener ages in a single week.
If your door is original to a house built in that median-1968 range and it's never been serviced, that's usually the job - not a full replacement, just bringing old hardware back to where it should be.
Frequently asked questions
Do you serve towns outside Worcester itself?
Yes. We cover the Worcester area out to roughly a 14-mile radius, including Shrewsbury, Auburn, Millbury, Leicester, Holden, Westborough, and the other towns within that range. Call (508) 216-8299 and tell us where you are, and we'll confirm we can get to you that day or schedule the next available slot.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can give you a range based on what you describe, but not a fixed price without seeing the hardware. Spring and track setups on older area homes vary enough that a real quote needs someone looking at the actual door, not just the house's age.
What if my opener needs a part you don't have on the truck?
It happens, especially on older openers. We'll tell you on site if a part needs to be ordered rather than leave you guessing, and we'll give you a straight answer on how long that's likely to take before we commit you to a date.
